Reported by a senior specialist. With your doctor fast.

Every image is read by a senior radiologist - or cardiologist for echo - working here in the building. Your referrer gets the report first, so they can explain it in the context of your care.

Why the wait for the report?

Your doctor explains it first. Then it's yours.

Radiology reports are written for clinicians and can contain findings that need context - an incidental note that sounds alarming but isn't, or a technical term for something perfectly normal. We give your referrer time to talk it through with you, then release the report to your portal. Please make a follow-up appointment with them.

Questions

Can I get my results over the phone?

Reception can confirm your report has been sent, but can't read results to you - they need a clinician's context. Your referrer is the right person to explain them.

My doctor hasn't received the report.

Call us on 09 638 5169 with your name and date of birth and we'll re-send it straight away.

Can I get a copy of my images?

Yes - digital images are $10, ready for collection within a working day. Most doctors prefer the portal or electronic transfer, which is free.

How long do you keep my images?

Ten years, in line with New Zealand health records requirements. You can access them in the portal for the whole period.

Your results will be with your GP by tomorrow.

Same-day X-ray reports, CT and ultrasound within 24 hours - read by senior specialists on site.

Your request

Before your X-ray

No preparation needed. Bring your referral (paper or on your phone). Most visits take under 20 minutes.

Before your CT scan

Some CT scans need 2–4 hours without food, or extra water. We’ll tell you exactly what to do when we call.

Before your ultrasound

Abdominal scans: nothing to eat or drink for 6 hours. Pelvic and pregnancy scans: arrive with a full bladder.

Before your pregnancy scan

For scans before 14 weeks, drink 750 ml of water an hour before and don’t empty your bladder. Later scans need no preparation. Bring your referral and maternity details; partners and whānau are welcome.

Before your injection

No preparation needed. Plan a quiet rest of the day. We’ll time it with your physio or GP’s plan.

Before your transthoracic echocardiogram (TTE)

No special preparation. Allow 30–45 minutes. You may be asked to change into a gown, and small ECG stickers are placed on your chest during the scan.
